There have only been a few occasions in my life that I have felt so profoundly touched and so richly blessed as I did about this Raffle; Christmas at the Pound 2013. I do not even know how to thank everyone involved… words fail me. From all the designers, artists and individuals who had something to donate simply because they wished to help our organization… I say THANK YOU! To those countless people who bought Raffle tickets… I say THANK YOU! To Valerie Curran, Darsey Templeton Mitchell, Sandy Thompson, Kay Williams Graves and Catia Cho who organized and ran this Raffle so efficiently I say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!
We have taken in so many special yorkies this past year; Seniors with nowhere else to go (Cupid, Crystal, Darby, P.J., Precious and Hope to name just a few) and yorkies that had serious illnesses or faced incredible challenges to heal (Faith, Mason, Max, Tulip, Teddy B, Macey, JR, JoJo, Tigger and Mercy).
"Christmas At The Pound 2013" is a yearly Raffle organized to raise funds for a Rescue Group. This year Florida Yorkie Rescue was chosen to receive the benefits of the fund raiser. There were so many beautiful items donated. The Raffle was a huge success and FYR was given a check in the amount of $6,258.62. WOW!
As many of you know, we currently have Gracie who was just discharged from the hospital last evening but is still recovering from a nasty case of Tracheal Bronchitis and Susie, the mother yorkie to three incredible little puppies who is now suffering with Milk Fever. We were presented with a Vet bill yesterday of $1,500.00.
So for us to be chosen as this year’s recipient and to hear the astonishing news that such an incredible amount of money was raised… well it quite frankly leaves me speechless. I simply do not even know how to convey how appreciative and grateful our organization is and how personally humbled I am by all of you. I sincerely want to thank every single person that was involved in this year’s Raffle. Because of each and every one of you, we are able to continue to save more yorkie lives! YOU did this! You have helped us to keep moving forward, to continue taking in special cases and knowing that for now there is money in the bank so that we do not have to turn anyone away! God Bless each and every one of you, today and always!
